6. Barlaamus with Tudor Arms

British Library, Shelfmark c108c11.

Small limp vellum volume with gold tooled coat of arms.

Bound in Oxford and marked with the Tudor coat of arms, this book is an example of the plainer volumes that would have been a part of royal libraries and collections, often overlooked while focusing on more lavish bindings. The tooling is in bright, true gold, but seems hastily done on a common limp vellum structure.
