Limp vellum sewn on four supports with silver tooling.

This volume exhibits the most traditional structure of the limp vellum binding, with both supports and headbands laced through the cover and a yapp extending over the fore edge. There are marks from former ties or clasps at the fore-edge of the cover that would have been used to hold the volume shut (vellum is prone to changing shape in varying humidities). Ties were often made from threading the sewing supports under the vellum up to the fore-edge of the book.
