Limp vellum binding made of a single folded sheet of gold tooled parchment.

An early 16th century limp-vellum binding, the sewing supports but not the headband cores of this volume have been laced through the cover. This book is unique in that the vellum seems to have already been tooled all-over as one panel and then folded in half to bind the present volume. This may have been a quick way of producing a tooled cover for the present book, or the vellum may have been intended for some other purpose.
