19. Conservation Structure by Clarkson
Binder: Chris ClarksonFrom the collection of the binder.
A model limp vellum binding sewn on double-chords with ties and bone peg.
This is one of the models of the limp-vellum structure that was created by Christopher Clarkson in an attempt to design a style suitable for a conservation treatment. Clarkson's efforts and his design continue to be an influence on many book conservators. Since his design was published in the seventies, many adaptations of the style have been developed in a further attempt to find a perfect limp-vellum conservation structure.
